The Fulbright scholarship is one of the most coveted and lucrative scholarships out there. In order to have a shot at securing it, you need to start preparing at least 6 months prior to the deadline. The deadline usually takes place in Mid May of each year.
Firstly, book your GRE seat using the USEFP website and pay the $120 fee for this exam. Take at least three months to prepare for this exam, because it is an extremely tricky one which requires a lot of practice and hard work.
Secondly, find three of your most reliable instructors, with whom you have developed a friendly rapport, and ask them to write your recommendations. These recommendations need to elaborate upon courses you have studied with the instructors, how you stood out from your class fellows, what research work you conducted, and whether you participated in any extra-curricular activities that they knew of.
Thirdly, start planning on writing your Personal Statement and Study Objectives, because these two essays are the most important components of your application. They need to illustrate your previous work and educational experience and how it aids your future academic and career plans. Emphasis should be laid on what you plan to do when you come back to Pakistan, and how you will do it better than other applicants.
